About this service

In the United Arab Emirates, eligible employees are generally entitled to an end-of-service gratuity based on their basic wage and the length of continuous service. For most employees, gratuity accrues after completing at least one full year of service.

As a general guide, many arrangements provide gratuity based on 21 days of basic salary for each year of service up to five years, and 30 days of basic salary for each additional year. For unlimited contracts, voluntary resignation before five years of service often leads to reduced entitlements, whereas termination by the employer usually grants full accrual within the applicable limits.
