About us

Source-first financial calculators for the MENA region

CalcMENA builds bilingual (English / Arabic) financial calculators for expats, residents and businesses in the UAE, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. Every calculator is backed by an official Decree, Royal Decree, Federal Law or regulatory Circular.

Our mission

The MENA region has some of the most consequential and least-documented financial regulations in the world. A 14-day gratuity settlement deadline, a 4.2% SIO contribution band, a 9% Corporate Tax with Small Business Relief — these rules carry real money. We exist to translate those rules into calculators that anyone can use in under a minute, free, with no signup.

Coverage

CalcMENA covers six GCC jurisdictions today, with more than fifty calculators and a steadily growing editorial archive. Every page is published in both English and Arabic at parallel URLs.

  • United Arab Emirates — Labour, Corporate Tax, VAT, Visas, Emiratisation, DEWA, RERA.
  • Saudi Arabia — Labour Law, GOSI, ZATCA, Nitaqat, Iqama services.
  • Oman — Labour Law, Personal Income Tax (Royal Decree 56/2025), Social Protection Savings.
  • Kuwait — Private Sector Labour Law, residency cost.
  • Bahrain — Labour Law, LMRA, SIO-funded EOSB, VAT.
  • Qatar — Labour Law, Corporate Tax, Permanent Residency.

Editorial principles

A small number of strict rules apply to every calculator and article.

  • Source first. No calculator or article is published without an official Decree, Royal Decree, Federal Law, Circular or regulator portal as the underlying source. The source is always linked from the calculator page.
  • Friction first. We build tools for actual financial decisions, not generic conversion utilities. If a regulation does not carry a real money risk, cost or saving, we typically do not build a calculator for it.
  • Institutional voice. Fact-based, calm, accurate. No clickbait, no exaggerated headlines, no fear-marketing.
  • Bilingual parity. Every English calculator has an Arabic version at the same slug under /ar/. Arabic content is reviewed for terminological accuracy, not machine-translated as a placeholder.
  • Indicative, not advisory. Results are estimates based on publicly available regulations. We always recommend confirming the result with the relevant regulator or a qualified professional before acting on it.

Who we serve

CalcMENA is used by expats verifying their end-of-service gratuity, by HR teams modelling GOSI and SIO contributions, by small businesses planning Corporate Tax exposure, and by tenants checking their RERA rent increase entitlement. We do not target professional tax advisors, but our calculators are routinely shared inside law firms and consultancies as a first-pass tool.

Transparency and data handling

CalcMENA is free and does not require an account. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — the inputs you type never leave your device. We collect only aggregate analytics to understand which calculators are useful. See our Privacy Notice for details.
